This San Luis Obispo home is on a corner lot. Before, the South facing slope was overgrown with dated Juniper shrubs which obscured views and access to the home's front door.
Down To Earth Landsccaping prepared a design and presented these to the City Planning and Building Depts.
The new landscape involved ripping out all junipers and adding stairs that lead from sidewalk to front door, many local large boulders and extensive new plantings. The old lawn was replaced with a Native fescue sod "meadow" which needs no mowing and uses 50% less water.
New plantings were 70% CA Native and the balance being other Mediterranean climate plants. Native plants included Ceanothus, Redbud, Manzanita, many Sages, Penstemons, Coffee Berry and more. All plantings are irrigated by water-saving drip irrigation.
Hardscape features included custom flagstone stairs and patio, stacked stone wall, landscape lighting and water feature.
